Build story

She came off the assembly line in December 1961. the same year I was born so I like to say we are the same age. She belonged to my wifes cousin who is a little more than 10 years older than her so she looked up to him and always wanted that car. Especially since he is kind of a hoarder, it runs in the family, and it had not moved from the garage since 1983. around 2013 he was in his 50s and had his first couple of kids and some employment issues and his wife said :you know all that stuff you have been keeping because it is going to be worth money some day? well today is the da!! first he had to unbury it from the pile of mint-in-box star wars toys, and he gave my wife first offer. She had wanted it so much and thought she would never have it so we bought a 92 red convertible corvette as a substitute for her. It had been in the garage so long that the garage door springs were broken and we had to hold the door up with a ladder as you can see from the pics. It took some work and marvel mystery oil to get it running. The first Fak-tree thing I noticed was that there was no gas filler door. He showed us that after you took the roof off and opened the back deck you filled it into a radiator hose with the gas filler tube and gas cap hose clamped to the end of if. That was the only thing i did not do any part of. the bodywork to make the filler box and gas filler door. I got a guy on craigslist who just moved to town and was starting his business here and made the mistake of &helping him& by paying it all up front when he didn#039;t even ask, just for half. he suddenly lost the urgency to get the job done and it took forever but he did a good job. I had a shop mount the muncie 4 speed, and a shifter, both of which i had bought on craigslist. the garage , that i also found on craigslist did the best they could with what turned out to be the wrong shifter, but all the gears were backwards and flipping the tabs was impossible, I bought the right shifter and mounted it myself. some FAK+TREE FEATURES: gas filler tube, Alternator mounting bracket WELDED to the headers. Chrome fan shroud that didn#039;t fit. firestone gum whitewalls, wrong kind for that year, air shocks in the back with no air lines, cardboard trunk separator. WOOD spare tire cover. a hole above the shifter so big you could mount the tranny from the inside. and a broken windsheild. I know she looks like she has a lot of shine just runnin off of her. but she spent 30 years buried underneath star wars toys so maybe the force was with her, beeep booop beee booop.
